Despina confirmed for next month

So, the next Grimoire just got her date confirmed for 06/26 and is up for preorder! This time, of the three online shops who get the preorders the earliest, AmiAmi showed both Amazon and Hobby Search who was boss, getting our first pics of her:

Barely a month left, whee~!

  1. Ironically, June 26th is also my birthday, as well as the day legends state the Pied Piper story took place.

    1. Ooh, so is that why they advanced the release date from the tentative Fall release? Now that's some commitment to the original tale, right there.

    2. What was creepy to me about it is that it was said to take place in the year 1284. I was born 1984. When I read that, it just sent chills up my spine.

  2. Noice.

BTW aren't you gonna comment anything about the upcoming Bikini Warriors on July, I know is not QB but is made in Hobby Japan too

    1. Oh, that. Well, I've been kinda following its development since it was first announced:

But, amazing artists aside, I can't really work up the interest to care that much about it, maybe I'm still jaded since 7 Sins looked real good and never took off :p

    2. I think what happened was that there was another series also called Seven Deadly Sins that started out as a manga, but was working on an anime about the same time as the Hobby Japan series. So legal issues with the name probably is why it never took off.

    3. yeah, and I bought this so called manga Seven deadly sins, I though it was the HJ one...

  3. Firelight Games recently announced they should have the book for sale by July (since they have to wait for it to be shipped from Japan). http://firelightgames.com/new-queens-blade-grimoire-despina-harem-piper/

    1. Oh neat, they came to the same translation we did on her quote. Looks like they went with the Harem Piper title rather than the Pied Piper of Hamelin we ended up choosing though.

Ahh, japanese puns, so hard to play with. Hamelin and Harem are said basically the same way in Japanese, so I can't blame them for going with the one with more impact considering her backstory.

    2. @eradose: Hm, not sure if you meant that, but are you kinda implying that the warrior titles in Firelight's page is the closest we have to HJ's intended version...?

There aren't many books to go by in their site, but they do call Kaguya a "Masou Kenki" (rather dubious unless they want to repeat our Musha-Miko, and that kinda made more sense) and Werbellia a "Swamp Witch" (it's a little known fact that HJ already called her "Bog Witch" for a while at their site, though I'll admit it's not 100% confirmed yet).

    3. No, more like it's the best place to get the books, since ebay prices can double in price compared to what they offer.

    4. Ooh, that I can agree with :D

Btw, since you're around and you play the actual game, I don't think I've ever heard your opinion on the exhaustive analysis of the girls' pros and cons our pal Charles did a while back.
In case you missed them, can you take a look at these? I'm uploading them to Pastebin:

    5. Interesting. It explains why Annelotte is one of my main plays. I have seen something similar to this on the Firelight Games site. http://firelightgames.com/lost-worlds-through-the-looking-glass/ But this is very interesting. Would like to see similar done to Queen's Blade Grimoire and Queen's Gate.

    6. Oh, so like I heard somewhere else too, the dwarf/Ymir is better at Extended Range... kind of a one-trick pony, I guess.

But yeah, isn't it interesting~? He did say he intended to do more, but alas, the last one is more than one and a half year old (hence Werbellia's omission). He started by calculating the efectiveness by hand, but I made a "mini-app" of sorts to help him because it was kinda crazy :)

Still, it's funny that in QB/LW we kinda live and die by the matrix, but you don't see these sorts of detailed analysis anymore... Back in the '00s I hear there was more discussion about it, like that Peters guy who designed almost 100 chars, oh well. I basically had to teach myself the intrincacies of the matrix, to do crazy stuff like adapting the superheroes and the warhammer guys, lol.

  4. The same with "Reverse" and "Rebirth", as they are said and spelled nearly the same way in Japanese too (learned that from a review of a Transformer called Reverse Convoy/Rebirth Megatron).

Considering that Firelight Games has worked with Hobby Japan in the past (the head of the company is the daughter of the original creator of Lost Worlds), it's usually the best bet to look at them for any US releases of the books.

Speaking of, there is something I've been wanted to pitch to them, and I need some help with it. A content ratings system for Queen's Blade books for use at conventions. Anyone interested?

    1. Content rating? You mean like from tamest to lewdest?

      Delete
    2. Exactly, with a brief description of what kind of content. I have it broken down to four tiers. Relatively Safe (only three in that tier), Suggestive, Overly Suggestive, and Explicit.

    3. I'm pretty sure FS's ones fall in Explicit, right?

    4. You can go over the list here. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/87667889/QB%20rating%20system.doc It's in need of a spellcheck and second opinions.
