QB Battle 48.4

Sure wasn't expecting the newest Grimoire to get scanned outta the blue, but a deal's a deal, I guess. Hence, here we go again!

So yeah, based on the "fire giant" Brimstone, here's Cinderella! Highest BP of all Grimoires (even Zara's), strong standard attacks (for no real reason?), nasty high-damaging freezing beams and tricky maneuvers await you, so beware of her! Be sure to check the tutorial to learn her ins & outs!

Do her very few cons make Cindy rather overpowered amongst them all? Probably! :3

Oh by the way, I guess the "online server" thingie turned out to be a bust, it might work fine for a few people, but apparently Gmail won't let lots of people access at the same time, too bad.

While we're on that though, a buddy here proposed the other day making a Discord thingie for QBB, what do you all think, would that be interesting? Wanted to bring that up since I don't have lots of experience with those things, so if you guys figure it'd be something nice for us to have, be sure to let me know! :D

  4. Discord has API for multiple languages. If you plan on using discord to run QB online.

    All need to do is make a discord server and probably, have players make a dedicated discord account to connect to the server and send messages around via the current Client.

    I've been maintaining my own discord bot using the js API. I dont know how well the rest works. But I could try looking into it. Ring me on discord If you're interested. discord tag dranzerstar#0714

    1. Well, at the very least, for now people could just play VS matches between each other as if it was some chatting app...

      But you know, I've been looking into this discord thing, and like you say, there might be some way to use it to play QBB online... however, having everyone with dedicated accounts sounds a bit of a hassle, I'll have to look into the "simplest" way to integrate this discord thing (using C#)...

    2. people can use their normal discord account if people dont mind a having a channel on the side with their self bot sending messages into it.

      I'm still a bit miffed about all the work I did for the "online servers" having been kinda for naught, le sigh...

  6. Just went through the arcade with Cindy. God she's super strong!! I took out Seiten with two charge attacks!! Hey does her ice mirror relect attacks like Rugal Bernstein of KOF's Dark Barrier? It seems to do monster damage on attackers. I wonder what's next for QB now.

      But no, by design, no QB attack should ever reflect the damage back to the attacker, that'd be crazy OP.

    Would it be possible to implement hotkeys for "select attack" and "attack"? Clicking with mouse is slow

    1. You should be able to use the tabulator to navigate the buttons, then Intro to press them. Would that be enough? Guess I can do the typical "Alt + key" if it isn't...

  10. This doesn't work for me. Everything is properly installed in the right folders, but it always tells me "there are no characters available".

      The folder structure seemed to be right indeed, the first thing I thought was problems with the folder location itself.

      It's still kind of weird for that to happen, hadn't really tried executing it in a network drive myself ^^U

  11. Just found out about QBB. This is awesome. In using it I found some errors you want to fix:

    1) centaur has two moves 60. You will want to fix the centaur-s.txt file so that the Spin and Kick move uses 58 instead of 60.

    2 and 3) The damage modifier for dodging (+2 to down and side swings) was not applying correctly for the Skeleton and Sir Percival. You will want to fix the skeleton-r.txt and sir percival-r.txt files by adding the word "move" immediately following Bonusonly (both of them) on restriction[16].

    4) cimeree-ai.txt looks wrong. She has 32 moves but the ai txt file has only 27 rows. Maybe this is expected, but just looks like an error.

    5) surprised how often the CPU does Retrieve Weapon when no weapon was lost. I looked at the AI txt files are they are set to 0,0 for the weapon state, so I don't know whey it behaves like this.

      You're totally right on 1, 2 and 3.
      Regarding 4, it seems it's just an issue while I was numbering the rows, there are actually 32 rows in there, should work fine.
      As for 5, could you tell me which characters did you see that Retrieved Weapon while armed? It should work fine for most of them, it's probably a few who are failing.

      Wow, what a fast reply. BTW, I have been playing this game for decades, but just found out about your app 2 days ago. I got lots of the older books, so that is what I focus on.

      I have been playing a lot of the original nova books in your app. I kept seeing retrieve weapon being done. Sorry, I have no specifics, other than these. After seeing it "too much" it was with Cimeree that I started to research your ai files. She had not thrown her dagger and was doing a retrieve. But it was later after seeing it again for someone that was with only two weapon states (I was with at least one of these: Goblin, Skeleton or Amulf).

      I will note it down next time.

      Found more bugs. Sorry, but I think you would want to know (btw, if I could email you the fixed files, that would be better than describing the error):

      1) dalchion xii-s.txt file: Extended range Thrust and Great Magic have their move #s switched. That is, switch 54 and 60.

      2) Poor Timothy, lots of fixes to timothy-m.txt:

      2.1) nearly every extended range row had an error or several. I just went by comparing it to my book after I saw odd results during play. In particular the third value was most frequently wrong, but I think it was more than just that. I can send you my fixed file or check timothy's book.

      2.2) the errata on Flying Buffalo's web page lists two errors. Page 16 move 36 should have results 63 (not 41). Page 46 move 46 should have results 43 (not 3).

      2.3) Timothy does not consume daggers when he scores a hit. That is, a dagger that hits should then have a status of "on the ground", and not be back in his belt. I was able to kill the man in plate (Burton) by throwing 4 daggers from long range with one of them going into his shield (that one got "in shield" status) but the other two that hit him should have been unavailable to me. Instead I just did another "54- Draw and Throw" and killed him. Not sure how to fix this. Not sure how your code is supposed to handles thrown weapons that score a hit.

    4. Oh, I know why you might be seeing Retrieving Weapons when uncalled for: are you playing in Balanced difficulty?
      If you aren't, it's not using the AI files, so there's no real rhyme or reason to their moves, basically.
