Cinderella slips her way in! + OVA 2 news

Edit (04/29): ANN has the OVA's synopsis.

You'll excuse the kinda Smash Bros titling up there, lol, but... this month's HJ magazine finally announced the new addition to Queen's Blade Grimoire!

Can't get a grip on her artist just yet, but behold the beauty with glass slippers (not pictured) who also happens to be the last boss, the Devil of Winter!!

Also, more info on the OVA 2! As we could pretty much figure, Tiina and Kaguya will be the main attraction, Liliana will also be appearing and the title will be something like: "Dance Around, Dreaming Little Mermaid". Voice actresses will be Saori Goto for Tiina, and Manami Tanaka for Kaguya.

Both coming this summer, more details as we can dig 'em up!

  1. She is...cute I guess, is not that I dislike her, in fact I find her cute but unlike with Snowwhite I don't see anything special about her design at all, it just look like some random sexy armor art.

  2. Last boss? I'm kinda surprised. I was hoping for more fairy tale characters. And Cinderella of all people to be the last boss?

    1. Hm, well, I only meant that she's the big baddy we've heard since the beginning, not that she's the last character.

And well, I wasn't expecting them to make Cinderella it either, it was quite a surprise :p

    2. Cinderella looks lovely but disappointed she's the "Demon of Winter". Also is Tiina's name really with two "I's"? I always thought that was a mistranslation. Anyways it's nice to see more Grimoire news. Looking forward to Liliana vs Tiina/Tina

    3. I'd prefer Tiina's name to be "Tina", or probably "Teena" given how weirdly it's written... but 2 different pages in her book confirm her name, alas :p

  3. It's like they enjoy continually upping the ridiculous factor on their boss character outfits. They're always variations on dominatrix stuff (Aldra, Rebellion Claudette, Werbellia) without exception, pointy everywhere and lotsa confident smiles for the ones with the artbooks. It's kind of amazing.

  4. Well this is a nice surprise after coming home from work! I was hoping for Cinderella and it looks like I got my wish, so far the Grimoire characters have been my favorites out of all the Queens series, and Cinderella definitely doesn't disappoint either. Her armor seems to have a lot of glass/crystal mixed in to go along with her shoes I take it?
I kind of wonder since she's the "Demon of Winter" will she be a hybrid character like Goldie (I mean Goldie seems to be a mixture of Kintaro and Goldielocks as Leecherboy mentions on the wiki.) so I'm wondering if Cindy here is also based on the Snow Queen (and if she is then thank goodness they didn't go with basing her on the Disney "In Name Only" version)? if she is I hope that she'll have some Ice based attacks also, which also makes me wonder if the crystal/glass in her armor is also some sort of unmelting Ice?

Whatever her story is I'm quite satisfied with her appearance and the fact that she seems to be the main villain (I was imagining a villain version of Cinderella for this, so looks like my guess was close)
My only beef with her is her weird cameltoe underwear or whatever it is, it just looks uncomfortable, and personally I would have designed something that goes along with her armor better, but it's not a big beef.

  5. Cinderella?!! Ok yeah sure but COME ON!! She's the last boss?!! That's just funny!! I could think of some better bosses for this!! Hell the Queen of Hearts would make Queen Claudette look like a total wuss!! No I refuse to believe Cinderella is the last boss. There's gotta be someone far more ruthless than her!!

  7. I'm not sure but based on her face and her tits I think Cinderella's artist is saburou.

  9. Hot dang! what a babe! new waifu sighted!

After some rather thorough examination of her image I'd have to say that my favorite aspect of her design would be her fabulous Bibbidi Bobbidi Boobs, I might even daresay that she's the breast character revealed so far!
Ok now all joking aside, I remember people discussing how the Demon of Winter would definitely be a male due to the Kanji for the name being masculine or something, but here she is and her outfit doesn't really leave much to the imagination about what her gender is, so now I'm wondering if she's being possessed by a male demon in a similar situation to Aldra, is that where the Fairy Godmother (gender flipped) aspect comes in here?
Anyways she's pretty sexy and I love her face, hair, and armor/dress thing, and the fact that she's a villain, but what I really want to know is what her abilities and weapon will be, I'm personally hoping she'll use a sword, but I guess we won't know that until they fight!

If they do any more characters, I hope they do an Aladdin girl (maybe part Genie like Shantae) and I saw someone mention Pinnochio which would make an interesting puppet girl, there are tons of Fairy Tale characters to use so I'm happy with anything.

  10. Hopefully that second OVA episode of "Grimoire" is significantly better than the first. As much as I like the series, frankly, I found it to be a huge mess and was really disappointed.

    1. Here's the way I think of it. Since they aren't doing an anime they have to shove as much content and story into the OVAs as possible. This might make it into a "mess", but with them only doing these OVAs there isn't much choice. Especially if they are limited to only doing two or three to tell the story in.
Because of that I'm expecting the second one to be just as much of a "mess" as the first one, I would have preferred that they made an actual anime out of it, but I've pretty much given up any hope for them to finish the Rebellion anime (I don't know if it didn't do well enough for a sequel or what.), so I'm expecting nothing but a few of these OVAs of similar quality for Grimoire.

It doesn't really matter to me that much though, I just consider these anime and ovas to be a sort of "bonus" for the fans set in their own continuity while the highest canon for the series (just to me and in my opinion.) will always be the combat books, I've especially noticed that some of the anime characters have quite different personalities compared to their portrayal in the gamebooks (especially obvious with characters like Snow White.) I don't know if it's because all the different merchandise are all made by different teams, but they don't seem to keep the continuity of the series as a very high priority, and all try to do their own separate things with character and world portrayal and with how the story plays out.
