Queen's Blade: Sword of the Unicorn, chapter 4-g

Whoops, belated post! For the Fio vs Michel poll, Fio took it with 16v-50%, followed by "Can't stand either!" with 9v-28%, and then Michel with 7v-21%.
Yaay, Fio won... but hm, a good percentage of people don't like either, huh.

Next poll, haircut preferences in a design?

And in today's story bit, Leina vs Airi is go!

Enjoy!

The moment the pre-battle formalities were done with, Leina made her move.
[I’ll end this in one swift strike!]
“Charge!!” She pointed her sword to the evil spirit while kicking off the stone floor, cutting through the distance between them in an instant.
“Impatient, aren’t we?”
The wraith’s scythe parried her sword upwards.
But even with her first attack deflected, the fighter’s assault was far from over.
With Airi’s arms now raised, Leina took aim at the maid’s lower body with a side swing, adding in momentum from the parry.

“Your swings are much too wide.”
The wraith’s scythe thrust forward to Leina’s shield.
“Wha-!?”
But the blonde moved far faster than the wraith would have guessed, and Leina simply spun her body onto the path of the incoming scythe.
An attack made with the intent of hooking her shield away wouldn’t do much against her armor.
*CLAAAANG*
It beautifully repelled Airi’s scythe.

Having fended off Airi’s attack, Leina’s sword then swung in unexpectedly.
“Kuh!”
The red head jumped away fast, but not nearly fast enough as Leina’s sword slashed at her foot.
“I see… I can’t afford to get careless.”
Holding her leg, the maid pulled back even further. Her black stockings were now split.
The blonde’s attack couldn’t have been any cleaner, had Airi been flesh and blood, then she’d surely be bleeding profusely right now.

“But then again, neither can you.”
A cold sweat formed on Leina’s back as she noticed how cleanly the straps holding her bustier together had also been sliced. If it weren’t for her armor, she would have gotten eviscerated and Airi hadn’t even been aiming for her.
Still, her armor did stop it.
[As sharp as her scythe is, it can’t be that strong. If I were to strike it full force, rather than attempting to parry it, she’s more likely to try to dodge or jump away from it.
And even if I’m wrong in that assumption, I still have my armor.]
“Deyaaaaaaaaaaaah!!”
Roaring, Leina swung her sword out with full force.
“Eek!”
And intimidated by the other’s fighting shout, Airi moved to gain some distance.

“I got you now!!”
The wraith played right into Leina’s hands.
Leina, who dashed forward to catch Airi as she tried to jump away, swung her sword down hard on the maid.
“Kyaaah!”
Airi gave a short scream, being hit by the sword from behind.
The moment she managed to find a way behind the wraith, Leina sealed her victory.
“Now, prepare yourself!!”
Leina raised her sword up high and then swiftly brought it back down, ready to end this.

“You’ve done it!”
Tomoe couldn’t help but cheer, Leina’s movements had been just that wonderful.
She could tell these were the fruits of the Vance girl’s warrior training: carrying out the battle at her pace and not leaving the wraith any openings with which to absorb her essence.
[Leina is getting stronger. Were we to fight now, I might even lose.]
Tomoe could only imagine, considering the blonde’s fierce and decisive onslaught.

***

“She did it!”
Fio fist pumped, convinced Leina had done it.
“Pfft, amateur.”
Echidna countered, succinctly.
“Leina’s attacks are about as obvious as you can get. To put it bluntly, she’ll never win like that.”
“You think?”
“Yeah. Just watch, the maid’s about to get serious.”
Hiding behind Echidna, Fio looked on at the fight.
