Queen's Blade: Sword of the Unicorn, chapter 2-g

For the poll about percentage of our polls answered, "90%~" and "more than 60%" won with 11v-34% and 10v-31%, followed by "100%!" with 5v-15%, and then there were "25%", "35%" and "less 10%" with 3v-9%, 2v-6% and 1v-3%.
Well, glad to see most of you are playing along with the polls, that's the spirit!

New poll, what'd ya think of this story so far anyways?

And for a bit more of the story, we finish chapter 2~, and we don't know what the so-called truth was yet...?

Enjoy!

Next week: a small intermission arrives!

The red glow shining from the crystal ball faded out.
“So they managed to dispose of the skeleton swordsman.”
Troubled, Airi put a finger to her forehead.
[Accomplishing such a feat confirms that whoever is watching over Milady also has the ability to cleanse the undead. My, I had no idea the Exiled Warrior was so capable…]
“It appears I will need to bring Milady back myself…”
The maid snapped her fingers, summoning a lesser spirit.
“I’m off to retrieve her. Please guide me.”

“Maybe I should have kicked them out AFTER they helped me clean…”
Logan grumbled, cleaning up the shop on his own.
Not a single customer remained, all having left around the time the flaming roaches made it on the scene.
Well, there was one one person left… sitting on the counter in a relatively arrogant manner was the masked woman, drinking her fill of alcohol.
“Say, Logan.”
“What?”
“Does the town still have that underground ruin system?”
“Last I heard, that collapsed about fifty years ago.”
The woman nodded, seemingly satisfied and, leaving some money, hopped off the counter.

“And where are you going?”
“Follow-up services. Mercenary crap and all that, y’know.”
Logan didn’t miss the grin crossing over her cloth covered lips.
“Crap, eh? You could always try settlin’ down like me, if stuff like that bothers you so much.”
“I’d say I’m still too young to retire.”
“Last I checked, you stay young forever, don’t ya?”
He saw her off, a smile clear on his face.
“Even eternal youth has its own share of problems, eh?”

“So what do we do now?”
The sun having now long set, the three beautiful girls ambled around in Sheldan square: Leina and Fio--having been freshly kicked out of Logan’s Inn--and Tomoe, who would logically already have some form of lodging secured for the night… but who accompanied them nonetheless with the same puzzled expression.
“Kicked out of an inn, well that’s a first.”
Leina sighed.
“Before we look for another place to stay, we’d better do something about that smell.”
Fio spoke, a healthy distance away from Leina.
“Yes, I’m afraid it’s far from a very ladylike scent.”
Tomoe agreed, like Fio, standing somewhat far from the other fighter.

“Mngh~”
The Vance heiress pouted, sulking. It wasn’t as if she liked the smell anymore than they did.
Fighting the Skeleton Swordsman, reborn as the Rotting Swordsman, ended with her getting soaked in all kinds of less than pleasant juices. A short battle it may have been, sadly the same couldn’t be said of the smelly after effects… Much like the Rotting Swordsman, the smell of garbage would require a thorough cleansing as well.
“No inn would accept a girl smelling like garbage after all.”
The priestess only added more fuel to the fire, vexing the already thoroughly annoyed blonde.
“I guess the blessings of your precious Lord Masakado don’t amount to much this far from Hinomoto, huh?”
“W-What was that?”
Tomoe went wide-eyed at Leina’s words.

“If your whole ‘evil spirits begone’ thing had worked from the beginning, we wouldn’t be in this mess, now would we?”
“Mngh~”
The foreigner scowled at Leina with tightly closed lips.
“Miss Leina…”
Tomoe’s tone was tinged with quiet fury.
“Feel free to lay the blame on my immaturity all you wish. However, know that I shall tolerate no insults towards Lord Masakado.”
Her hand began reaching for her katana.
“So we’re settling this now, huh? Fine by me.”
The other woman also began reaching for her sword.
“Let us decide who is clearly in the wrong.”
The tension in the air got only worse until...

“Cut it out, you two!”
Fio jumped between the warriors, sensing the obvious incoming fight.
[As long as they still haven’t drawn their swords, there’s still time.]
“That’s enough! Yeah, drop it, now!!”
[Can’t have them fighting now.]
The songstress then spread her arms out wide to push the two away from each other.
“Huh?”
And from one of her outstretched hands, she felt something soft… that being one of Tomoe’s breasts.
Fio, being considerably shorter than either of the two, had more or less grabbed it dead on.
And unlike Leina’s chest, which was mostly covered in armor, only soft fabric covered Tomoe’s. So Fio’s right hand ended up giving it a nice big squeeze.
“Kyah!”
The priestess took a quick step back.
As for Fio’s other hand, it was busy pushing Leina’s armor against her breasts.

“Ah… h-hey.”
Dumbfounded, the blonde raised her voice in protest.
“Awawawawah.”
And Fio withdrew her hand, flustered.
“S-Sorry!”
The two women, who were moments away from starting a fight just a second ago, seemed to calm down, taken aback by the kid’s actions.
“Huh, guess we won’t be fighting.”
“I suppose not.”
They both looked at each other, feeling pretty awkward.
“Yup, yup. Petty fights are pointless, right?”

Feeling the signs of the brewing battle between the two now fading, Fio gave a sigh of relief.
“So, what should we do about the lodging issue?”
Back to square one, Fio repeated her original question.
“You needn’t worry, please leave that to me. I have an idea.”
Tomoe puffed out her chest with confidence.
“Alright, we’re counting on you then. I just got into town today, anyhow.”
Compared to Leina, who had just arrived, Tomoe had been staying in Sheldan for nearly a month, and was more familiar with its layout.
“So, shall we get going? Please follow me.”
Led by Tomoe, Leina and Fio began walking through the city under the moonlight.
