Were we missing the profile of the last returning character? Yes we were, and finally revealed in the third volume of the illustrated stories, here it is:
So that's right, the third volume came out, ending the Rebellion story. We're actually closer to the goal line than I thought, so there's no point spoiling it any further.
...And since this post felt too short, here's a new Melona pic:

She absorbed a certain ancient demon? I'm guessing it's going to be revealed as the story develops, but do is it one we know already?
ReplyDeleteCould it be Menace?
DeleteIt kinda... doesn't get revealed for now, or so it seems.
ReplyDeleteThe third volume certainly lacks some closure on the returning chars, I guess we'll have to wait for the "QBR Perfect Visual Book" I'm expecting.
That extra pic is almost tailor made for me, since Elina and Melona are two of my three favorite Queen's Blade characters (third one is Ymir).
ReplyDeleteGood thing Melona's profile finally got released.
Can't wait for the third volume of the illustrated stories.
The "QBR Perfect Visual Book" should come out sometime around next year, right?
That's what I'm hoping for. Any later than that, and they'd kinda overlap with the Grimoire series.
DeleteThanks for the translation.
ReplyDeleteAnd you were complaining about some of my Shion pics? Tsk tsk! :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder how closely the Rebellion Anime follows the illustrated stories?
Hm, I remember being somewhat generous there... but then again, I have an obvious F.S. bias :p
DeleteAs far as I know, for better or for worse, the anime seems to go out of their way to disregard the stories, changing the order of the events or replacing minor characters (like that "Child of the Dragon" brat, that becomes some kind of panda stone).
Nahh, I'm just playing! To be honest, playing Summoner Shion again, I am a bit surprised at some of what I got away with... So you were pretty generous after some prodding :)
ReplyDeleteFor better or worse is pretty accurate... On one hand, you get more story, but on the other hand you can't see the animated version of what you've read and it makes following the official story harder to follow (What's the official version anyway?)
I did watch episode 2 of Rebellion, and to be honest... I was impressed on most aspects. It was pretty interesting, the characters were nice (especially Sigui who actually is a gentle, incredibly helpful and nice woman as long as heretics are not involved) and the animation looked great. To be honest, the only negative part was the annoying small squid, which did up the ecchi content of the show compared to anything else from the old serie... It was kind of a Jar-Jar Binx annoyance, but with gropping instead.
It's interesting that Melona's profile still mentions that she can become invincible by absorbing more and more creatures, and yet her graph lists "potential" as her lowest score (tied with "popularity").
ReplyDeleteIn regards to episode two of Rebellion, I thought the squid thing was weird too; I basically regarded it as little more than a running gag. I had more problems with the idea of Annelotte accidentally falling into a sacred pose - I found it to break with the show's internal consistency (though I tend to analyze things through the lens of role-playing games) - but that's easy enough to explain away as it not really being a sacred pose's power that she used.
It's also a bit irking that the anime veers so wildly from the "official" story. Interestingly, the manga seems to follow the story much more closely (as described in the illustrated novels), but there are still some changes (e.g. who frees Annelotte from the dungeon in Gainos).
I found the 2 in potential despite that ability questionable too; some of these stats seem arbitrary to me.
