Queen's Blade Unlimited Story: Chapter 8-2c

Now, Leina keeps fighting back in the other world?

Enjoy!

Battle with the Demon

A gentle breeze brought Leina back to consciousness.
After fighting Risty, her confidence as a Beautiful Fighter had grown, and she passed through the gate to Maramaks as urged by Nanael.
Both the rematch with Risty and Elina’s words—“if you make a wrong choice, I will stop you”—crossed her mind.
She raised her face, and saw the hourglass floating in the sky, that had just started moving slowly.
Night was coming to Maramaks. The devil’s time would be back.
“I did make a few promises... that’s why I have to defeat the Demon, and come back.”
The skin of the petrified monsters regained the color of life.
As midday changed to night, the evil beings and beasts started to roar, and the orchestra monsters around the Demon played as if praising Her—an otherworldly, sweet tune filling Maramaks.

The battle had begun.
Leina poised her sword and focused on the movement around her.
The monsters in this world were hungry, and she was the only food around.
“Too bad, I’m not on the menu.”
She avoided the looming monsters with minimal movement. Among the creatures who had lost sight of their target—crashing against each other with dull sounds—, the warrior used a monster with a huge build as a stepping stone, aiming at the leading Demon as if flying through the sky.
“Eat thiiis!”

She shouted intentionally to intimidate the aberrations, and swung her sword.
Her weapon, under the amulet’s protection, cut through the monsters around her smoothly--with no resistance whatsoever, like a hot knife cutting through butter.
There was nothing that could stop her advance. She plowed through like a gale or a tornado, leaving only monster corpses in her wake.
She rushed straight in a beeline, as if to shake off the disgusting eating noises of the creatures behind her feasting on each other.
“Uooooooooh!”

The monsters, flinching before her cries, opened the way.
That fierce battle, spanning several days by now, had ended up affecting the monsters. Some of them avoided fighting her—something she couldn’t be more thankful for.
With the evil spirits out of the way, an amber magic barrier approached.
She could see monsters in the form of many instruments marching around the barrier, playing a very strange music.
Nanael had said that it was an orchestra that granted power to the Demon. As long as the music kept playing, the magic barrier would get thicker, making it hard to land a hit on the leader.
“Seiyaaaaaah!”

The warrior didn’t hesitate and lopped off the beasts in the orchestra.
The flute’s sound ceased, the drum’s vibration disappeared, the singing voice that sounded as if extolling the Demon’s virtues faded away.
Yet, Leina’s rush didn’t stop. Once the orchestra beasts were destroyed, she swung down her sword towards the barrier at once.
Again, the protection her sword had received allowed it to cut through the barrier, opening a path towards its depths. Letting her run through towards a distance where she could cross swords with the Demon.
“Now!”
She shoved her sword towards the Demon’s white neck. However, she didn’t pierce her: a jet black horn raised a spark and parried the weapon.
Her wrist grew numb before the unexpected shock, even reaching the point that she felt she was going to drop her sword... but she endured, fixing her posture.

“Fshhhhhhhh.”
The Demon’s breath escaped her crimson lips, just as pitch-black eyes with no light behind them captured Leina’s figure.
Then, the creature moved faster than the warrior could attack; a long spear that appeared in her hand broke Leina’s chest armor.
“!”
She never heard a sound. Her senses couldn’t fully capture the other’s movement.
[Meaning, was my jumping backward to avoid a lethal blow just an instinctive reaction?]
As she frowned in pain, she never took her eyes off the Demon.
With the impact she had received when the horn parried her sword, an ordinary weapon would have been smashed up... yet there it was in her hand, not even a nick on its blade.

(I’m the only one who can cross swords with my Sister...)
Elina’s words flared in her mind.
[She should be training herself to fight me after I left the Earldom.]
“For my little sister’s feelings as well... I can’t lose yet.”
She disposed of her broken armor, sticking out her chest without minding it being bare now.
“I can’t afford to lose here.”

She held her sword, taking a stance while keeping her eyes on the Demon.
Her secret, deadly technique.
She waited for one instant before unleashing her one-hit kill technique, taught to her by her mother Maria, on the Demon.
“Shaaaaaaaaaah!”
The creature thrust her spear while shouting.
After barely seeing it once, it was quite a monotonous attack. Though she had a tremendous power, the refinement of her technique didn’t come near to a Beautiful Fighter’s.

The warrior dodged the protruding spear, and fired off a sharp, stabbing flash that alluded to the most powerful of beasts.
“Dragon Tail!”
The response of the creature’s body being cut up was transmitted to the warrior through her weapon.
The fight had only just begun.
“Now, let’s fight.”
The Demon scowled at her, shedding red-black blood, and yet Leina declared so:
“I won’t let you destroy the world.”
