Queen's Blade: Return of Amara, Ch 3-a

And we resume the Amara story with the middle chapter!

Enjoy!

Chapter 3: Follow the Star Shining in the Night Sky

A suspicious glow shimmered in that world of darkness. Illuminated by that pale glow, a metallic body was mysteriously sparkling.
Metal bodies were enshrined on the room’s wall, perfect copies of their owner, Devil Setra. Across from them, the costumes of princesses from each generation of the dynasty - who had used this oasis as a holiday villa - were lined up.
Even after the thousands of years, the blue and white stripes haven't faded. Though thin and small pieces of cloth, they still had plenty of elasticity. They fit the glamorous female body without squeezing it, they remained smooth without being stuffy; considering the good shape they were in, it was safe to call them lost technology–no ordinary magic would last this long.

Devil Setra was the ultimate weapon left behind by the Amara dynasty. Its metallic body repelled weapons, and it could perform various magical attacks thanks to the magic stored in the Living Scepter.
Despite being usable by only one individual, it had a might comparable to that of an army, and it still was in perfect shape.
“Every time I come here, I get moody.”
The owner of the room, Devil Setra, wore a melancholy expression on his face as he looked at the bodies lined up in the room.
Even though there were these many bodies, he could only move the one he had combined with. They had Nubia, the cursed sand doll, with them - but they couldn’t work outside of the desert. The way they were, war with other countries was a pipe dream.

Menace had rushed to declare the revival of the Amara dynasty after returning to the Khan Oasis, but they hadn’t contacted other states as a de facto nation. They still remained in obscurity.
Fortunately, in the modern times, there was a system called Queen’s Blade. If she won the championship, the revival of the Amara dynasty would be complete.
If one considered the murderous martial arts Menace mastered, the Cursing Power she had gained after her resurrection, and Setra’s intelligence, it wouldn’t be so far fetched.
To that end, he had to remove all the obstacles he could...
Setra fixed his eyes on the sword placed on the desk, the Sword of Unicorn.

“The strongest serenadin’ sword against the undead... I never knew such a thing was still around.”
Its very existence was a deadly threat to Menace.
“Should I hide it?”
He moved the Sword into a pedestal decorated with a magic circle, and started casting a spell. Before long, its shape started changing, making a sound like air deflating. It gradually thinned until it was like paper,  resembling a sail as it swelled with the wind and then folded.
“This should work... There wasn’t a lot of resistance tho. You’re not from my family, are you? Or have you Awoken?“

Sentient weapons were extremely rare in this world. They were often regarded as the king’s authority, and were often the center of religious ceremonies.
However, sentient weapons tended to have disadvantages, since they held tremendous power. A weapon with an ego would vent its desires straight on the owner. If it was a sword or a katana, it would want to fight; if it was a scepter or a holy symbol, it would seek domination...
If the owner couldn’t control the weapon’s will, only ruin awaited.
A weapon like Setra, who would protect and lead his owner, was even rarer. And, in extremely rare cases among the already rare Living Weapons, there were instances where the weapon might create its own alter ego. That was what he had meant when he mentioned “Awakening” earlier.

“If you have Awakened, your alter ego must be lookin’ pretty awful by now.”
Grinning, Devil Setra picked up the papyrus-like Sword. If his theory was correct, the sword’s alter ego must have become just as thin.
“As long as it stays like this, it can’t be used as a weapon any longer...”
Next thing on the menu was: where to hide it?
This kind of magic sword had the power to try to return to the owner’s hand. If he tried to hide it somewhere weird, the magic he had put a lot of time into would be wasted.

“Somewhere Milady won’t stick her hand into, and close to its owner would be ideal...”
He looked all around the room, and his gaze stopped at the blue and white stripes.
“Whoa, found the ultimate hiding place!”
He grabbed a piece of underwear, and with a bit of handiwork, made sure that the flattened sword would be in contact with the body wearing them.
“Ku-ku-ku, even if I do say so myself, my skillful hands just saved the day.”
