So last time we saw that Leina was caught up in something preeetty wild, but how did we get there?
Enjoy!
A Few Months Ago: The Earl’s Daughter’s Daily Life
“Are you sure, Milady?”
“It will be okay, please go ahead.”
Dressed fancily, Leina smiled gently to a maid with a full tea cup in her hand, who wore a tense expression on her face.
The blonde held an empty tea saucer in her hand. At that time of the afternoon, she always enjoyed a little amusement.
“Here I go then, Milady.”
The maid casually threw the tea cup at Leina.
The heiress then magnificently caught the thrown cup with her saucer. Without spilling a single drop, of course.
“That was brilliant, Sister!”
Elina approached while clapping.
“I tried to do like you, Sister, but no matter how many times I try, I can’t seem to manage.”
“How to throw it is important as well.”
The maid blushed lightly when she heard that.
“In that case, I figure I must train my pitcher.”
“Um, no, I don’t think that’s the case.”
The big sister noticed the other’s eyes taking on a risky shade, and hurried to correct her. Left alone, Elina would have no qualms in subjecting her throwing maid to one of her punishments.
“I knew it, it just must be that your agility has transcended human levels, Sister.”
Expressing her excitement with exaggerated gestures, she carelessly threw her arms around the other.
“Kyaa, E-Elina.”
“Oh my, you didn’t dodge me.”
“Did you want me to?”
“Sheesh, you’re so mean, Sister.”
This exercise had used a tea cup, but this movement was useful to dodge throwing knives and projectiles; Elina could see clear as day that this was no mere entertaining.
“Leina, the Earl is calling.”
Someone called out to the heiress as her younger sister was following her about. Only two people in the Earldom could address her without any kind of honorifics: her father the Earl Vance, or her stepsister the General Claudette.
“Stepsister... is it time now?”
“Hm. The Earl waits.”
As of recently, Leina had been called on official business more often. And that was because the Earl had noticed her special ability.
The entertainment she had shown just now owed a big part to that very ability.
For the heiress, just the slight sound the tea cup made as it flew and the footsteps the maid produced when she threw it were enough for her to grasp its trajectory, and then it was only a matter of placing the saucer at the cup’s landing point.
The ability to discern between many times at once. The ability to clearly distinguish a specific sound among a myriad of them.
Among a conversation between a dozen nobles, determining who was talking about what was a piece of cake to her.
However, her opposition didn’t have it so easy. She was able to even grasp soft whispers the people barely heard themselves. It went without saying that restlessness and animosity were increasing among the opposing nobles.
Regardless, since the Earl got hold of what Leina heard, the public business progressed without delay. She had already become someone indispensable for him.
“It’s important work. Only fitting for a true heiress.”
“Not as much as yours, Stepsister.”
The middle sister smiled at the purple-haired girl speaking words of consideration. Thanks to the general having taken on a military duty and occupying an essential position within the Earldom’s official business, the blonde sisters could focus on their lessons.
“Give it your very best, Sister!”
Encouraged by Elina’s cheers, Leina headed towards the Earl.
