We'll wait a bit until the next chapter is ready!
Enjoy!
“If she keeps fighting preliminaries, she’s going to become one of the candidates, isn’t she?”
“Oooh, she has the Veteran Mercenary endorsin’ her?”
His mouth curved into a grin under the moustache after hearing the elf's comment.
“At the very least, I think you can recoup your investment.”
It wasn’t uncommon for Queen’s Blade participants to get sponsors. The travel costs during preliminaries, equipment, and wound treatment added up in the end; there were many cases where individuals couldn’t shoulder it all.
“You could have stayed and became her exclusive trainer.”
“I learned it the hard way the last time I tried to teach someone: humans reach their peak in the blink of an eye, and they die too soon.”
“Fufufu... totally spoken like someone that's seen the ice age.”
“So... I have a favor to ask you, Hans.”
“What is it? Go ahead.”
“It’s this... will this come off?”
With blushing cheeks, Echidna turned around, and slowly rolled up her loincloth.
A plump brown peach butt with forged muscle wrapped by soft fat appeared before him.
“Ooh...”
He carefully studied the palm’s mark firmly imprinted into the brown buttocks, and closed his eyes in silence.
“This is embarrassing to watch, isn’t it? I thought it would disappear in time, and came with a carriage instead of using a magic circle, but...”
The palmprint hadn't faded at all. It was no mere mark - it was left by the "Cursed Slap" Menace had used on her in the preliminary.
“Hmm... only the holy virgin from the church could remove this thing.”
God’s power was the quickest way to get rid of a curse.
“Geh? I have to go there? I’d rather cover it up with makeup.”
“Figured as much.”
Hans pulled a small vial from under the counter. A golden liquid gracefully swayed inside.
“Holy Golden Water, it invalidates any curse. It’s very, truly expensive stuff, but how about exchanging the carry fees for this bad boy?”
“Taking advantage of someone’s condition, are you...”
“You don’t need it, then?”
“The naming sucks, but desperate times call for desperate measures, I guess.”
Dropping her shoulders, she took the bottle of medicine.
“Thanks for your patronage.”
“By the way, Hans.”
“What?”
“Did Miss Exiled Warrior come by here?”
Echidna murmured softly, as if whispering to his ears.
“As soon as I told her an incident was goin’ on in the desert area, she got on board of a carriage thataway.”
She smiled in satisfaction.
[Leina will have a hard time fighting against Amara’s killer techniques.
If she’s seized by fear and loses, that’s as far as she goes. If she survives, she might just have learned something.]
“Just what are ya schemin’, anyways?”
“*Giggle*... isn’t it fun if Queen’s Blade gets lively?”
“Guess ya got a point.”
For the men, unable to participate in the competition, Queen’s Blade was a huge celebration. Obviously, the livelier, the better.
“And if I can get some profit while at it, the better.”
“Isn’t that a chance for a merchant to show his chops?”
Grinning, Echidna left his shop.
