Prologue: Angel Charge
She was bored. So bored, in fact, that she was resorting to looking at the world below to kill time.
Under her there was only a huge desert, spreading as far as the eye could see.
“Ah~, how boooring~”
She flapped the snow-white wings growing from her back, stretching her whole body.
Her right wing was smaller compared to her left one, throwing off her symmetry. Regardless, there was no doubt she was an angel. Those who could look over the world were none other than God and his helpers, the angels.
“Oh?”
A spark crossed her greenish eyes - a magnificent building casting a shadow through the desert.
“If I’m not mistaken, this area was smitten by god’s wrath in the past...”
It was extremely unusual for old ruins to remain in such good condition. Since no oasis existed within walking distance, it had been spared from grave-robbers. Being isolated in the middle of a sea of sand had worked in its favor.
“This water... spring water, huh?”
A clear lake, smooth as a mirror, kept the surroundings alive. It fed plants in the scorching desert, and the plants prevented the lake from filling with sand.
It had the makings of a small nation's capital: besides the walls surrounding it, there was a stone temple as big as a hill, and an arena.
“This would make a lovely winter home - And having a place on earth wouldn't be that bad, either!"
With a wide smile on her face, she looked at the oasis in detail.
“Oh my? Oooooh.”
Her lips twisted into a grin: the oasis in question wasn’t abandoned.
"Hold up, there are people actually keeping the place tidy? The waterways are maintained, the roads are clean... Ooh, and they're all guys too, awesome!”
The angel salivated over those men from the distance. Whatever reason aside, this was the orderly world she dreamed of!
“Alright, wait for me, my lovelies! Your mistress will descend to earth in a moment~!”
She flapped her wings vigorously, but descended carefully so the bottle hanging from her waist didn’t spill.
***
The desert was an uninhabited wasteland, hot winds making it a scorching hell. There was no way any outsiders could reach this oasis.
Since times immemorial, abundant waters sprung from deep underground to form this huge lake, keeping the forest alive.
A man, wearing desert clothing –a loose black coat–, turned to the floodgate and waved his large cane.
Following his signal, evil spirits with robust bodies and dog heads pushed the gate. It wasn’t humans who did the heavy lifting around here, but demons.
The water roared as it flowed from the lake, seeping into the town through waterways crossing like a chessboard.
Flowing water wouldn’t evaporate under the scorching heat during the day, nor would it freeze in the extreme cold at night. As long as the water kept flowing, the oasis would stay comfortable. That’s why his work, managing the floodgate, was crucial for the town residents.
“Nh?”
Suddenly, something blocked the sun: a small shadow covering his face. And yet, they were in the middle of a desert, with a beautiful blue sky unmarred by even one cloud.
“How odd...?”
When he looked up, what caught his eyes was a dazzling polka-dot pattern.
Or rather, it wasn’t only that. It was printed on fabric wrapped firmly around a soft puff. Smooth legs spread from that fabric, showing without any doubt that the one wearing it was a young woman.
“Wha! Wha-wha-wha-wha...”
The buttocks that suddenly had appeared to cover his sight only made him more and more confused.
[A girl wearing polka-dots swooping down from the sky... No, it can’t be just a girl. Their size is irregular, but she does have pure white wings. Plus, beside an angel, is there any other being who can just up and come down from the sky?]
Before the faltering man -who hadn’t managed out another word since the incident began- the angel’s short skirt was fluttering, exposing her polka dots panties.
“Auh... ah...”
His mouth opened, only to close again. He seemed to have trouble coming up with anything to say.
“Hey, what’s your name?”
The angel broke the silence, still looking downwards at him from midair.
“M-My name?”
“Yeah, who else’s?”
The high-and-mighty angel began to pout.
“An elite angel is asking you, so hurry up!”
Overwhelmed by her arrogant tone, he could only look up at her. She seemed to be completely unaware that a breeze was exposing her polka-dot panties.
“I guess if you don’t have a name, I’ll just have to give you one. How about ‘Gebokky’? Think of it as a huge honor, for you have been blessed with a name granted by the Angel of Light!”
“I-I already have a name, it’s Unphay.”
“...What a weird name. I think Gebokky fits you much better.”
She kept on, paying no heed to his objections.
“Oookay, so you’re gonna be my manservant, Gebokky. Let’s see, first I need you to build my temple in this oasis, somewhere with the best ventilation and a great view. Ah, right over there should be fine.”
“I don’t remember agreeing to become your manservant!”
“What’s this about, Gebokky? Watch your tone.”
“The only one I serve is Lady Menace!”
“...Menace?”
The angel frowned.
“Who’s this now?”
“You showed up in the Khan Oasis without knowing Lady Menace’s name?”
It was Unphay’s turn to frown now.
