Queen's Blade Unlimited Story: Chapter 9-2b(2)

And we finish chapter 9! Can the gang enter Maramaks safely...?

Enjoy!

“Lady Elinaaa!”
The kid screamed when he saw his companion falling. That was the peak of the mountain; fudge the landing point even for a bit, and she’d fall off to her death. Not to mention how, since she had jumped so high, she was at the mercy of the wind.
“Sheesh, always so crazy.”
Melona turned her body into a rope-like shape and extended as much as she could, heading towards Elina.
“One really can’t be at ease around you!”
Summoning lower spirits as a scaffold, Airi created a landing point for her mistress.
“You both made it just in time!”
“Of course we would!”
“Because we’re friends!”
The shapeshifter secured the other’s body and pulled her in.

“Heheh, I won!”
Hugged by Melona, Elina showed a fearless smile at Nanael.
“That’s all fine and dandy, but what about after the battle?”
The noble girl relaxed her mouth when Melona asked her question.
“Well, I had you guys, didn’t I.”
Airi and Melona wouldn’t let her fall. How clear this was to Elina surprised the other a little.
“Gimme a break.”
The lower spirits summoned by the maid gently caught both of them.
“Please stop being so reckless, Lady Elina.”
The redheaded girl protested with her hand against her chest, as if saying that was bad for her heart. Of course, wraiths didn’t really have hearts to speak of.

“Great work, both of you.”
The blonde thanked the two that had come to her aid, then turned her gaze towards the airborne angel, still at her wits’ end.
“My wish is just one: open this gate! And be swift about it! You’re an angel, aren’t you? So open it!”
The other slowly descended before the gate, sighing.
“Holy cow, the great Nanael losing...?”
“You might not believe it, but her loss is real. Her lower body soaked with Holy Milk is proof.”
“Whoa... it’s like she’s peeing, isn’t it.”
“Sir Michel, please don’t look.”
The angel blushed in shame under the gazes and comments from those three.

“So, hurry up and open it. Or maybe the Referee Angel would ignore the wish that is the foundation of Queen’s Blade?”
Elina kept pressing and taunting her.
“Got it, got it, I’ll open it!”
Fighting back tears, Nanael knocked on the gate to Maramaks.
*Doong*, with a low and heavy sound, the stone door opened.
What laid beyond that was a world wrapped in a dazzling light.
“I’m telling you now: Miss Nanael here accepts no responsibility for what happens from here on out!”
She glared at the four others with pursed lips.
“I wasn’t expecting much responsibility out of you anyways.”
The noble girl replied, and took the boy’s hand.

“How’s this? We opened the door without sacrificing anyone.”
“Lady Elina...”
“This is precisely what a ruler’s duty is about.”
Forced with that resolution of her which had forcibly brought about a miracle, the kid found himself at a loss for words.
“So, smile. That’s a reward you can give me.”
Michel smiled when he heard that.
“Even if you end up assimilated into the demon, I won’t hesitate to cross this gate. Because my Sister is inside there.”
The Vance girl took a step towards the gate.
“I-I’m going too. If I become a part of the demon, please slay me without hesitation.”
Gathering his courage, he followed after the blonde.

“P-Please wait!”
“Oh gee, so hasty.”
Airi and Melona followed suit, crossing the gate.
After swallowing the four of them into the light, the stone door slowly closed.
Silence wrapped around the vicinity as if there was nothing in sight. Only one person remained, Nanael, clutching her head:
“Ugh~, this is reaaally bad, Miss Nanael... maybe this is the only thing we can do now.”
She lamented her bad luck; this was the very worst option she’d like to have chosen... and she had been powerless to stop it.
