Irma vs Elina: Confrontation in the Rain
For anyone not interested in leaving footprints, moving in the rain was the best possible option. After all, rain washed away all footsteps, smells and traces.
The moment Irma saw someone in the usually deserted road, she went on high alert. Especially when it turned out to be a familiar face; her hand naturally reached for her weapon.
“Heey.”
The person standing in her way casually called out to her.
“I’ve been waiting for so long, Irma.”
The Captain of the Guard Elina, from the Vance house. Now a beautiful fighter who competed in Queen’s Blade, calling herself the Inescapable Shadow Elina; that was who was smiling under the rain.
As far as Irma knew, the blonde wasn’t the kind of person who’d willingly stand under the rain and get wet, but maybe she had something on her mind?
“I don’t recall us agreeing on meeting here.”
[I’d like to avoid futile battles, but will she be okay with that?
If it comes to a fight, I just need to break my way through.]
“So, what are you here for, young lady?”
“I’ll have you give Michel back.”
“Michel?”
“Don’t play dumb.”
Elina brandished her long spear, sending splashes of water dancing.
“The boy attendant you and Echidna took from me back on the border island.”
“Ah, did that happen?”
Irma took a deliberately innocent attitude. Her plan was to buy time to check for traps around. After all, it was hard to believe Elina had merely been waiting.
It might be a highway, but it was only acting as such because the underbrush was cut down properly around the area; since now it was the rainy season, it was only muddy enough for one’s feet not to get submerged in water.
The trees surrounding them were very high, a perfect environment for the kind of three-dimensional battle Elina specialized in—using her wire, that is.
[I have to look out for attacks from above. I can’t very well imagine someone like Elina, a born noble, choosing a road to fight in the mud.]
“Say something, why don’t you answer?”
“I see no point in answering.”
Irma shrugged her shoulders in scorn.
“Why would I comply?”
“You’ll comply even if I have to force you to.”
[She’s going to attack.]
Irma watched closely Elina’s motions in order to respond in time.
However, betraying her expectations, the Vance daughter didn’t move.
[I smell a rat.]
Irma didn’t move either, aiming for an opening.
A fair share of tension had joined the rain pouring over them.
“Aaah, sheesh~, so frustrating!”
And what ended up breaking this tension was a loud voice coming from the ground.
“What?”
[Just below me!]
Before she could jump up, her feet got stuck to the ground.
[Is it some kind of birdlime?]
But no, what had captured her feet was nothing like that.
“Sigh, Melona, come on… read the mood, will you?”
“Buuut~, I was bored.”
A pink mucus rose from her ankles to her calves. Overwhelmed by the sheer repulsiveness of it, Irma had to fight hard to contain the soundless scream that threatened to escape up her throat.
“Hellooo, I’m Melona! I’m Elina’s friend!”
A head had sprouted from the tip of a neck twisted in an abnormal direction, which then smiled and spoke to her.
A monster with a deformed body, that could extend into irregular shapes like dough. Irma didn’t know what it was, but she was sure it was some kind of evil spirit.
[Elina, you cur, not only you have a wraith as your slave, but you allied yourself with evil spirits like this too?]
“Y-You wretched thing…”
“It’s not ‘wretched thing’. It’s Melona.”
As she said so, her body grew thin and wrapped around Irma’s, restraining her.
“Oh well. Thanks, Melona.”
“Ehehe~”
The slime girl showed a smile of satisfaction.
“Now, Irma, should I have you guide us?”
“Where to?”
“Don’t play innocent. Melona, give her a little taste.”
Following Elina’s command, a part of Melona that was constraining the assassin got into her underwear.
“Hia!”
Screaming unintentionally, Irma struggled in vain.
“Y-You cowards!”
“It’s fine to be a coward. I learned it from your teacher: ‘be willing to do anything to achieve your ends’.”
Elina came closer to her, a slightly impish smile on her face.
“You *will* guide us. Straight to Echidna.”
