“It certainly is a mysterious weapon, isn’t it?”
Tomoe smiled brightly to the girl, who had turned her back to the women.
[“Mysterious” may be putting it a tad lightly, however…]
The foreigner thought back to the sensation she felt the moment the sword touched her lips.
It was a wondrous feeling, like a cleansing warmth wrapping itself all around her to heal every ache in pain her body might be suffering from. The fatigue she’d gained from her earlier battle itself had stood no chance against it.
“Hm~, if only Ymir were around. I’d love to show this to her.”
Leina’s words snapped Tomoe free from her reverie.
“Ymir?”
That was a name she was unfamiliar with.
“The princess of the Dwarven tribe. Knowing her, she might have some ideas about it, but…”
“But?”
“On second thought, bad idea.”
Leina seemed to suddenly change her mind.

“Fio?”
The dancer turned back around to face the heiress.
“Yeah?”
Still clutching the sword tightly, the girl lifted her eyes.
“That weapon, you sense what it senses, right?”
“Y… Yeah.”
“Then yeah, that’s a no go. Pity, and it sounded like such a good idea too.”
Leina put a finger to her temple and tilted her head in thought.
“Did you have something in mind, Miss Leina?”
Dwarves were known for their superb crafting skills. As such, the Priestess was curious to know just what kind of questions Leina had planned for their tribe’s leader.
“Oh, well, I thought if we left it to Ymir then she’d give it a good look over. But… to Ymir, looking things over often involves heating them directly over a hot flame to check their composition, hitting them with a hammer or trying to cut them with sharp tools and so on, so…”

Hearing that, the sword in Fio’s grip instantly shrank.
“I-I’d die if she did that!!”
Fio protested loudly.
As Tomoe mulled over how reasonable Fio’s protest sounded, the dark-haired girl suddenly felt someone gazing at her from behind and turned to look, surveying the inside of the store carefully.
[Was that just my imagination?]

“Whoa, kid’s got some intuition to her.”
The masked woman, who had watched the entire exchange from behind her counter, snickered, removing her look from the perceptive priestess.
“Princess Leina, and now Tomoe, huh…”
Muttering to herself briefly, the woman soon frowned as an unpleasant scent began to tickle her nostrils.
Apparently, *he’d* be dropping by soon.
“Say, Logan.”
“What?”
The shopkeeper answered her bluntly, tending to another customer at the counter.
“How would you react if someone were to dump garbage in your store?”
“I’d get pissed.”
His answer was resolute.

“In fact, not only would I get pissed. I’d kick the guy out.”
“Well! Better get ready to do some kicking then.”
*Keh keh keh*, the woman snickered again, pointing to the entrance of the store.
“What are you…”
“Have a look, you’ll get it.”
Logan glanced over as instructed and, seeing who had just walked into his store, fell speechless.

“No, it would seem it wasn’t just my imagination.”
Tomoe frowned, the very same thing seemingly corroborating her suspicions now sending the rest of the store into a panic.
Leina and Fio both turned in unison to look towards the entrance, and seeing what lay standing there made the Vance girl’s expression twist into a clear look of disgust.

It was the skeleton warrior, or at least, whatever remained of it.
A shadow of its former self, it made up for the parts it had lost in its battle against Leina with raw garbage and the corpses of various little things now.
To say it was more garbage than swordsman at this point would be an understatement.
“Fio, stand back.”
Moving to protect the girl, Leina took one step forward.
“If I may be so bold, you’re more rotting than skeleton now, aren’t you?”

The shop’s clientele was more than happy to give the swordsman a wide berth. No one wanted to be anywhere near that foul-smelling garbage pile.
“An acquaintance of yours?”
The priestess asked Leina, covering her mouth so as not to breathe in the stench.
“More the girl’s, really.”
Leina unsheathed her sword, making sure to keep the dancer behind her. She wasn’t particularly keen on fighting the thing, but since its goal was Fio, she didn’t have much choice in the matter.
“Leina, only magic weapons or sacred powers can fully defeat it.”
“Just my luck, I don’t have anything that convenient on me.”
The warrior frowned as she answered.
*Splish*
Dripping rotten juices all over the floor, the rotting swordsman began approaching her.
Meanwhile, the customers who could no longer handle the intense smell permeating the store fled through the now vacant entrance.

“Miss Leina, I suspect this gentleman might not be of this world.”
“How very astute of you, Tomoe. Yeah, it’s undead.”
“Then allow me to assist you!”
In a flash, the priestess readied two talismans and jumped into action.
“It is my duty to exterminate fiends so that peace can return to this world! In the name of Lord Masakado, I will strike down otherworldly evil!”
A pale blue flame burst out from the talismans as she poured her spiritual energy inside, and within moments, fiend-exorcising characters began displaying themselves on top of them.
“Tomoe? What…?”
The blonde stared wide-eyed as the amulets left the foreigner’s hands and stuck to the rotting swordsman.
“Evil spirit! Begone!!”

And with those parting words from its user, the pale flames suddenly consumed the swordsman, turning him into a blazing inferno.

“Holy shit…”
Unconsciously forgetting about using her more feminine vocabulary, Fio watched Tome, absolutely awe-struck. Between her figure brimming with confidence and her profile illuminated in blue flames, she was so mesmerizing that Fio swore he could feel just a hint of the divinity hiding behind her prim and proper look.

In fact, everyone still present had their sights set on the Warrior Priestess who had condemned the foul-smelling threat to oblivion. “A Warrior Priestess’ power is fearsome,” they all seemed to be thinking.
Convinced of her victory, a thin smile formed on Tomoe’s lips.
But that lasted all of one second.
