Vanquished Queens 3 (6)

On the poll of owned books, "none" won with 34v-53%, then "one" and "15+" with 10v-15% and 8v-12%, and lastly "5+" and "10+" with 7v-11% and 4v-6%. Hm, I guess I can't complain much, but I feel like we still need to improve here.

Then next poll, one of those fringe theories about Rebellion's Al, isn't it?

And one more VQ part, get it here! Only two pages this time, my partner is kinda needing another break already. If only we had more people helping out, right...? It sure isn't due to a lack of projects...
Pointless pitches aside, can you place the artist of our Leina below? If you can't, maybe you need to ask the Big Bad Wolf~?

Enjoy!

  1. I'd say the artist who made the Reina page is the guy who made Reina 3d, no?

  2. I have over 30 QB books myself. Of course, carrying them to conventions in the two totes I have the stored in is kind of hard on my arms and back.

And that is totally Zara's artist that did that Leina picture.

    1. Oh we got a winner! I guess my mentioning the Big Bad Wolf just made it even more obvious.

Also cool, 30 books, that's what I like to hear! :D
...Hmm, come to think of it, didn't you plan on running a QB panel on Anime Fargo back on September? I just remembered, how did it go?

    2. Had a bit of attendance, and Firelight Games sent me two English translated books to give away during the panel. Have a write up on the even posted, but the pictures have hit a snag, since I had to use two devices for the whole thing (one running out of battery power), and I have yet to get around to them. I was also going to run a clip from the anime, but technical difficulties prevented that.

As for my Lost Worlds demo at Valleycon in October... no one showed up. Then again, gaming was lagging behind this year. Only my Deadzone demo had full attendance (and the Ruse game I ran on that Sunday was moved to a room I had trouble finding).

To be honest, every time I go to a convention, I run a Lost Worlds game demo. Despite the large number of books I bring, it's fun to teach people how to play it (although I do have to have some restrictions when it comes to Queen's Blade books due to content). Even if I don't have much time for gaming, I make sure I set at least an hour aside to run that.

    3. Oh, so you got backing from the actual company? That's kinda awesome :D

Sounds like you had a good time, you mean you posted that write up somewhere? Afraid my googling skills can't locate that exact piece...

But anyways, don't be a stranger~ If you're spreading the QB/LW love around, it'd be great if we could share your stories here in this blog as well, if you want :)

He's finally in, to tap some tail.
His super tough fur, strong than steel
If you strike him, he'll make you reel,
He's bigger, faster, and strong too.
He's the 16th member, of the the VQ Crew!

    2. To be fair, it might have been an offshoot species to Lou's species, and Lou's body is able to deflect attacks for Nowa too.

  5. The sheer number of jokes that can be made about Leina's bad ending are staggering...

She she was defeated by the Rape Ape.
She was beaten by King Kong's dong.
She lost to the chimp that wouldn't go limp.

Who says that rape jokes aren't funny? Monkeys make everything funny!

  7. This VQ series finally cemented my feeling towards the VQ series. I don't care if it never happened. I didn't mind Cattleya's first story in this series because I felt she got off lucky since her story ended with her actually fighting off her tormentor and starting to win. But this one... they had my favorite character beat by my least liked character, and on top of that there's no explanation as to how Elina could ever possibly manage to get the better of Cattleya (and on top of that, keeping a step ahead of her the entire time), especially when Rana is nowhere in sight. I've seen most fans agree that if Cattleya wasn't hindered by Rana she'd practically be OP and own the whole tournament. So, can anyone come up with a believable explanation here? It's bad enough that these hot and awesomely drawn VQ artworks show all of these once strong women suddenly crying/sad/fearful/broken in their expressions, but reading the accompanying stories totally kill whatever semblance of eroticism they could have. Take Leina here, at first I see that magnificently drawn ass, but then I see that face that makes me feel like I'm in a tormentor's POV and I start to feel bad, then I read the story and find out I'm seeing Reina right before she gets raped by a baboon... this rips the image of her strong character to shreds, now I only feel sad for her, and suddenly I feel bad about ever being aroused by the picture in the first place. I know these are spinoff or "fantasy" stories and not cannon but it sucks that they're still official and from the original creators of the series... if it was some doujin work I wouldn't give a damn. If nothing else, it's a massive waste of talent.

    1. Well, I wouldn't go as far as to say Cattleya would be a clear winner... but as the story literally mentions, in canon she was one of the top 4, yeah (along with Alleyne, Echidna and Claudette; both elves were surprisingly fickle about their students so the finals should have been Cattleya vs Claudette... if it hadn't been for Leina's explosive growth).

It's not the first time we mention tiers, but Elina would be one below Cattleya, so a normal win wouldn't be impossible (if highly unlikely)... but a win as described in the story is really unbelievable, as you say.

But oh well, that's the way VQ3 rolls lately, huh? It's not the first or second time I've said it's a bit too rape-y for my tastes; the one story I really liked was Liliana's, since it opens up a crazy awesome look into her past~

    2. Oh wait, the finals was Claudette vs Leina because Cattleya also left QB to go to the witch's castle, didn't she? Hm, I wonder who'd have come out on top if it had come to a Cattleya vs Leina...~

    3. Yeah, I've always wondered that too but... plot-armor doesn't only apply to Leina, ultimately, lol (or rather you could say Cattleya seriously lacks plot armor, both figuratively and literally!). Cattleya was never important enough story-wise to move on, and she really only cared for saving her hubby than winning the tournament, anyways. Even with her being my favorite, I was fine with all that. I think in sheer brute strength, Cattleya is quite possibly at the very top of the list, but as to who would win a battle among the top 4, even without Rana involved I do have to admit there are other things holding Cattleya back as well, such as lacking in the drive to win (she comes off as more of a peaceful character that would rather not fight unless she has to... I think she rather fights to survive or protect others, not to compete) and maybe a lack in technique/skill to go along with that brute strength (maybe a lack of speed in comparison to others might come into play too). Someone like Echidna also has hundreds of years of training and experience behind her. So I do have to admit that she still might not be a clear-cut #1 if Rana didn't hold her back, but still I think anyone can agree that she's top tier and her losing to Elina like this is pretty silly, lol.
